already had lots of releases but, few of them got a good box office collection and
audience appreciation.
Yaariyan ( Released on
January 10)
The film directed by
débutante director Divya Kumar Khosla saw a bunch of fresh faces onscreen after
a long time. `Yaariyan` starred newcomer Himansh Kohli and Rakul Preet Singh in
lead roles. The romantic young drama was made in a tight budget of Rs 11 crore
and managed to mint a whopping Rs 40 crore at the box office.
Jai Ho (Released on
January 24)
The much-awaited
release of the year `Jai Ho` starring the biggest star of Hindi cinema Salman
Khan managed to create enough stir before its release but fell short of the
expectations it had generated. Starring newcomer Daisy Shah opposite Salman,
the film was helmed by younger brother Sohail Khan and co-produced by Sunil
Lulla. However, despite being a semi-hit, the film did manage to recover its
cost of production.
Hasee Toh Phasee (
Released on February 7)
The romantic
comedy-drama directed by Vinil Mathew and produced by Karan Johar and Anurag
Kashyap starred Parineeti Chopra and `SOTY` actor Sidharth Malhotra in the
lead. The film stood out for Parineeti`s perfect comic timing and quirky
representation of her `scientist` character.
Gunday (Released on
February 14)
This action-crime
thriller having the city of Kolkata as its backdrop was received well across
India. Ali Abbas Zafar had written and directed this action packed script
starring the macho Ranveer Singh and oh-so hot Arjun Kapoor opposite Priyanka
Chopra in an interesting pairing.
Highway (Released on
February 21)
Imtiaz Ali`s one more
cinematic treat for the audience—`Highway` saw newbie Alia Bhatt in a
never-seen before avatar—this time actually proving to her critics that she
`can` act. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, `Highway` was appreciated by the
masses as well as the classed alike.

concept followed by the bride (Kangana) in the film.
Ragini MMS 2 (Released

is a remake of the 2011 Telugu film Kandireega.
